Thirty-two years ago, the first cold storage distribution center was located on the City of Rochelle Railroad which is “dual served” by providing equal access to both the UP and BNSF Class I Railroads. Today, Americold, the largest temperature-controlled warehousing operator in the world, is constructing their first Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), an $80 million automated warehouse operating system. The size and investment of this facility is again proof that Rochelle is a true “Transportation HUB City” offering easy access to rail and truck transportation options for customers across the Midwest.
